When I opened my shipment from ICE Resin® this spring, and saw this ribbon and bezel, my creative muse immediately thought “Asian – Cherry blossoms!”
It is funny to me how the minds of those of us who enjoy the creative process work sometimes – we just envision something in our my mind’s eye and then work diligently to bring it to reality.
I set a strip of text paper from the ART Mechanique Belles Dames Francaise flip book into the warm yellow bronze, long rectangular stick bezel. I took bits of pink Makin’s Clay® (www.makinsclay.com) from the Earth Tones set, hand rolled the bits flat and free-form moldedthe flat piece into tiny cherry blossoms, that I then accented a touch with Jacquard Lumiere pearlescent magenta paint (www.jacquardproducts.com) for a bit of contrast and shimmer. I mounted the dry blossoms onto a real twig to emulate a cherry tree branch in early spring. I mounted the flowering branch inside the bezel and a light layer of ICE Resin® sealed it in place. I chose not to fill the bezel completely as I wanted the texture of the twig and the flowers to be evident in the finished piece.
For the accents on either side of the bezel I stitched Asian coins into place. A toggle closure finished the piece.
I simply tied the beautiful ribbons from the ART Mechanique collection to the rings on the bezel, and then knotted behind the bezel, with the tails left long for added interest.
