Susan Lenart Kazmer, creator and founder of ICE Resin says, “Prior to the palpable excitement in Hollywood the weekend of the Emmys awards, all of my design team members chose to be involved to create a bracelet of their own style using ICE Resin and Art Mechanique products for Emmys-nominated actors and actresses and celebrity VIPs. Jen and I were delighted when the pieces from the team came rolling in; Gorgeous individual jewelry that all marked their own personality and style.”

The big party happened this past Saturday in Los Angeles when Susan Lenart Kazmer LLC/ICE Resin participated in the Gifting Lounge at the Nokia Theater Club as part of the Emmys events and happenings that take place all around downtown the weekend of the event. The Gifting Suite was an enterprise of the Craft and Hobby Association, along with the North American Bead Association were title sponsors of the event. We were one of a dozen craft manufacturers participating as part of our CHA membership.
Susan, myself and members of the ICE Resin team showed up bright and early (6:30 a.m. to be exact) for booth set up the day of the event, as did the other craft manufacturer sponsors. There was definitely excitement in the air Saturday morning as weeks of hard work was building to the crescendo of the event. A little behind-the-scenes aside here, but I always enjoy booth set up because it’s the time when all the participants get to check out each other’s hard work and exchange some ‘atta boy and ‘atta girls. I always enjoy that collaborative spirit of coming together for the good of the whole to make each event amazing. How blessed are we to get to share our passion for crafting with others who feel the same??
The morning began with setting up the tables for display. Susan’s high-end jewelry work was placed directly where all the celebs could see it as they walked in the door.
Then came our amazing swag bags filled with ICE Resin and Art Mechanique bezels, images, glitter, chain and findings so celebs could get their craft on at home. A HUGE thank you to Interweave/F&W, our publishers for not only giving Susan’s brand new book Resin Alchemy to the swag bag, but also my DVD Breaking Out of the Mold and Kristen Robinson’s DVD Romantic Bezels as well. The Horizon Group USA, manufacturers of Susan’s Industrial Chic line that’s exclusive to Michaels stores gave the celebs charms and chain and Pam Hawkins, the editor of Bead Design Studio Magazine gave the latest issue featuring the SLK Project. Wubbers pliers donated pliers so the stars had the tools to make jewelry and Connie Crystal gave us gorgeous large crystals. Mary Ann in our office spent a lot of time drawing beads on hundred of pieces of bronze wire and hammering it out so Connie’s crystal drops could work as the final beautiful ribbon finish on our swag bags.
After the celebrities talk to Susan, the came around to our make ‘n take table where myself and Misty Grosse, our booth manager and all around show wonder woman, were on hand to help them make their very own Talisman necklaces. We had two giant gold bowls filled with more than 800 individual charms made by our Creative and Mixed Media Team of artists and staffers, as well as more than 300+ Industrial Chic pieces for the stars to choose from. On display were samples of the make ‘n take that I designed. It was incredible to see their reactions to all this art on display and available for their choosing. Our Social Media Manager Jennifer Priest was on hand capturing every moment of the event and posting pics to Instagram so everyone at home could see what was happening real time as if they were there live and in person with us. Jennifer also sent Tweets and updated ICE Resin’s Facebook pages at the same time. I have never seen anyone work so quickly at social media in my life! If you missed any of it, you can still do a search on our hashtag #CraftingTheEmmys, as well as #ICEResin and #chaswag to see everything Jennifer posted and the team has done from the beginning.
Now that it’s all said and done, I can tell you it was an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. The people we met were truly genuine, coming to the Gifting event with their spouses and children to be part of the larger excitement that the Academy of Arts and Television Sciences brings each year to Los Angeles. Celebrity or not, the majority of the people we met are just like us; hardworking, creative and kind. They were interested in Susan’s work (and a few immediately spoke about her doing commissions for their private collections) and loved learning about our artist-based company’s story and all of the people involved that make it happen on a day-to-day basis.
Thank you for taking the journey with us and for following the ICE Queen to the Emmys.
